Colorado Mountain Dogs

Raised on the Ranch.

Bred for the Job.
Loved by Families.

At No Man’s Sky Ranch, we’re not just breeders — we’re stewards. Our Colorado Mountain Dogs (CMDs) are born, raised, and trained right here on our ranch, alongside chickens, goats, kids, and the kind of Wyoming weather that builds character.

CMDs are bred to be livestock guardians, but they also make phenomenal family dogs. They’re protective without being aggressive, smart without being stubborn, and loyal without needing to roam. If you’re looking for a dog that will stand in the gap for your family and your animals — this is the breed.

What is a Colorado Mountain Dog?

Originally developed in the Rocky Mountains, the CMD is a relatively new guardian breed, purpose-bred to protect livestock from predators while remaining friendly, toward humans and visitors. They combine the strong guardian instincts of breeds like the Great Pyrenees, Anatolian Shepherd, and Maremma — but with a temperament intentionally softened for homestead living.

These dogs are:

Unlike traditional guard dogs that may bark at every stranger or patrol the fenceline aggressively, CMDs learn to distinguish between friend and threat. That makes them ideal for working farms, ranches, and families with regular visitors.

Our Breeding Program

We are a registered Colorado Mountain Dog breeder, producing both Generation 4 and purebred pups from proven guardian lines. All of our dogs are:

Raised on our active ranch

Socialized with livestock, adults, and children

Introduced to goats, chickens, and cats

Vet-checked, dewormed, and vaccinated

Sent home with documentation and breeder support

Loved like part of our family

From the moment they’re born, our pups are handled daily and exposed to the rhythms of real ranch life. They grow up learning what it means to protect — but also how to be gentle, calm, and connected to their humans.
We’re intentional about who we sell to. Whether you’re running a full-scale ranch, building a small homestead, or just want a deeply loyal companion, we’ll help match you with the right pup.

Pricing & Process

We typically have two litters per year, and spots go fast. Pricing reflects the rarity, training exposure, and hands-on care these dogs receive. Your pup includes:

Deposits are required to reserve a pup. We allow in-person pickups and can discuss delivery within a certain radius. No shipping — we care where our dogs go.
